Potassium sulfate
Patassium sulfate K2SO4
NPK ( 0 - 0 - 50)
Potassium is an essential nutrient for plant growth and development and is the most abundant cation in plant cells and contains about 10% of the dry weight of the plant. The first role of potassium is activation of enzymes and plays a major role in the metabolic processes, especially production of protein and glucose in plants. Potassium ions are also essential for keeping water in plants, especially under drought conditions. Potassium plays a very important role in improving the quality of the plant, increasing the resistance of plants against environmental stresses such as drought, cold, salinity conditions, as well as reducing diseases and pests and increasing the storage capacity of crops and fruits as one of the three essential elements required by plants. Potassium is a very mobile nutrient, so its deficiency appears in older leaves, firstly like nitrogen and phosphorus. Typical symptoms of potassium deficiency in plants include brown scorching and curling of leaf tips as well as chlorosis (yellowing) between leaf veins. Purple spots may also appear on the leaf undersides. Potassium sulfate is an excellent source of potassium and sulfur needed by the plant. The existence of the sulfur to absorb it in the soil by the root and also the penetration of potassium into leaf cuticle leaves is very effective. This fertilizer improves the quality of the product and improves its storage properties, plant resistance against environmental stresses such as dryness, cold, salinity and the reduction of diseases and pests. This fertilizer compensates the potassium deficiency, reduces pH in alkaline soils and increases the micronutrients bioavailability due to the presence of sulfate.

Note:
Powdered potassium sulfate fertilizer is used as drip irrigation and foliar spraying on the plant due to its high solubility and lack of precipitate in irrigation systems. Potassium sulfate can be used as a source of potassium and sulfur in hydroponic cultures.
Caution:
It should not be sprayed this fertilizer during flowering and fruit set time.
Recommendation:
It should be used any fertilizer based on interpretation of soil test results and experienced experts.
