Saffron, family Iridaceae, is a perennial plant which is mostly grown in warm and dry areas, and reproduced through corms. Saffron during one year has a period of activity (7 to 7.5 months from early October to May) and a period of latency (4 to 4.5 months from mid-May to October). The fertilization needs of saffron are different during the course of growth or activity and are divided into three stages, the first, the second and the third irrigation events (from late December to mid-March). In the first stage (two weeks before flowering, from mid-October to late November) Saffron has a great need for nitrogen, potassium and especially phosphorus which can be found through the use of complete fertilizers as soil application and fertigation. In the second stage, the nitrogen and potassium elements are needed. These elements can be supplied through the use of fertilizers containing these elements as soil application and fertigation. The third stage, is a critical nutritional step of saffron production (February and March) because at the end of flowering stage, the parent corm gradually shrinks, so that at the end of the February, there is no parent corm, and the plant can not absorb the elements through the root. So saffron Relies on foliar spraying in March and the use of fertilizers with a suitable formula or a complete fertilizer will increase the corm size and florigen next year.

Properties the Suggested Fertilizer for saffron:
Increase yield | Increase Quality | Micronutrients as chelate form | No-chlorine |
Notes:
- Foliar application should be sprayed in the cooler morning or evening hours.
- It should be performed a jar test to determine the compatibility of the present fertilizer with other fertilizers and pesticides before mixing and it can be used widely after confidence the physical compatibility in a small area of the farm.
